In semester one, NUSA will be hosting free, no-booking-required financial workshops for students.
The current scheduled workshops are as follows:
Saving, Budgeting and Spending
Wednesday 22 March at 1:30-2:30
If you’re feeling like you can never get control of your money, and never save anything this workshop may help you! We’ll be learning how to keep track of your money and spending and give you some easy tips to start putting something away for a rainy day.
Tax and Superannuation
Wednesday, 29 March at 1:30-2:30
Navigating the tax system is difficult! This workshop will breakdown the basics so you can understand what you are obligated to do. We will also cover employment awards and superannuation so you can understand your entitlements and what your employer is obligated to do for you. This workshop would be suitable for anyone starting out in employment and wanting to understand the tax and superannuation system better.
Debt and Insurance
Wednesday, 5 April at 1:30-2:30
Should I get a credit card? Is it ok to take out a loan to buy a car? Paying things using a credit card or a loan ends up costing a lot more over the long term. If you want to really understand the real cost of credit cards and loans and learn how to make sound financial decisions this workshop will show you how to navigate those decisions.
NUSA will also begin hosting drop-in sessions from 11.30am to 1.30pm in the NUSA Building, starting on Thursday 27 April, which are based on ASIC’s MoneySmart resources.
